OUR APPROACHDeep brain stimulation (DBS) uses a surgically implanted medical device, similar to a cardiac pacemaker, to deliver mild electrical pulses to precisely targeted areas of the brain. Functional Neuromodulation is advancing DBS of the fornix in the treatment of Alzheimer's. The fornix is a major inflow and output pathway in the brain's memory circuit that has been shown to be one of the first areas of the brain affected by Alzheimer's. |
